Indications for use:
HelloBetter Diabetes is a digital therapeutic program aimed at reducing the severity of depressive symptoms in individuals with comorbid type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Participants reported a sustained reduction of depressive symptoms and diabetes-related emotional distress, as well as an improved quality of life.
HelloBetter Diabetes delivers well-founded psychoeducation via text, video, and audio recordings, and teaches effective strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) concepts. These include behavioral activation, problem-solving techniques, strategies for coping with rumination, and self-reflection exercises. The exercises are taught throughout the online intervention and can be integrated into everyday life. Goals are set and formulated in such a way that they are specific, realistic, and achievable. The online program consists of six core units, two optional units, and an additional follow-up unit. We recommend completing one unit per week, plus four more follow-up weeks after completing the course. Each unit takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. In addition to the units and practical exercises, the program grants access to an online journal, and recurring symptom checks to record, monitor, and evaluate one’s own progress.
