Indications for use:
HelloBetter Diabetes and Depression is a digital therapeutic program aimed at reducing the severity of depressive symptoms in individuals with comorbid type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Patients reported a sustained reduction of depressive symptoms and diabetes-related emotional distress, as well as an improved quality of life.
HelloBetter Diabetes and Depression delivers well-founded psychoeducation via text, video, and audio recordings, and teaches effective strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) concepts. These include behavioral activation, problem-solving techniques, strategies for coping with rumination, and self-reflection exercises. The exercises are taught throughout the online intervention and can be integrated into everyday life. Goals are set and formulated in such a way that they are specific, realistic, and achievable. The online program consists of six core units, two optional units, and an additional follow-up unit. We recommend completing one unit per week, plus four more follow-up weeks after completing the course. Each unit takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. In addition to the units and practical exercises, the program grants access to an online journal, a companion app, and recurring symptom checks to record, monitor, and evaluate one’s own progress.
